Reverse lights not working?

Astra, Corsa C or Meriva with no reverse lights?  


Checked the bulbs and fuse but still nothing.  Almost certainly the reverse light switch. 


Relatively easy to change on most variants, it's usually on the front side of the gearbox with a two-pin multiplug attached (sometimes it is fitted on the side of the box, to the rear - get at it through left wheelarch).  Just a case of unplugging the multiplug and using a 19mm spanner to slacken and replace the switch.  Don't over-tighten it and fit the aluminium sealing washer if the old switch had one fitted.


A quick and easy fix.  You may actually get the old switch working again by removing, filling with WD 40 and operating the plunger a few times.  Dry the switch with a rag or airline and refit.
